Career Champion

About

The Career Champion program is a campus-wide initiative designed to identify and equip faculty and staff to support the career development process for their students.

Career Champion Program Objective:

Increase opportunities to integrate career preparedness into the classroom and academic advising sessions by developing a career champion program.

The launch of the Career Champion program at Logan University has been an exciting step toward achieving several important goals. Starting in January 2024 with the release of the Career Champion Guide, this initiative was designed to equip faculty and staff with the tools and knowledge to have more impactful career conversations with students. By creating this program, Logan is expanding career services, making them more accessible and equitable across the campus. This way, every student can get the career support they need from someone they trust, all while receiving consistent advice about employability.

After releasing the Career Champion guide, we reached out to campus stakeholders in April 2024 for feedback through a ‘needs assessment.’ That same month, we introduced an on-demand welcome training video for anyone interested in becoming a Career Champion. In May 2024, we held a Q&A session for Career Champions and gathered commitment statements from those involved. In June, the Career Services team reviewed these statements, along with survey results from the training. As of July 2024, the program is now in a phase of ongoing support, with the Career Services team continuing to check in with Career Champions to provide additional guidance. This thoughtful approach allows Logan University to meet its goals of empowering staff, expanding career services, improving access, and ensuring consistent messaging to students about employability. Looking ahead to the 2024-2025 academic year, we’re excited to introduce more on-demand training, welcome new members, and offer enhanced resources through an updated website. We’ll also be focusing on evaluating the program’s effectiveness and impact to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our campus community.
